Colorado Rockies catcher Yorvit Torrealba will not return fro the 7-day concussion disabled list when he is first eligible to do so.
“I’m not sure he is quite ready to be activated (Monday), But I don’t think it will be too much longer.” Colorado Rockies manager Walt Weiss told the Denver Post.
Torrealba has been out with concussion-like symptoms since August 19th. He excited last Sunday’s game against the Baltimore Orioles in the eighth inning after he took a foul ball off his mask during Nick Markakis’s at-bat.
The 13 year veteran catcher is batting .252 with 10 RBI’s in 51 games this season. There has been a handful of catcher concussions this season.
Also reported by the Denver Post, Tyler Chatwood is scheduled to make a rehab start on Tuesday at Triple-A Colorado Springs.
Chadwood felt fine after throwing a three inning simulated game on Thursday. He is aiming to rejoin the Colorado Rockies rotation by this weekend and is currently on track to do so.
The 23 year old right hander has been sidelined since late July with elbow inflammation.
