The Florida Gators‘ injury woes continued on Monday. Florida head coach Will Muschamp announced the Gators would be without Offensive Tackle Chaz Green for the entire 2013 season. Green suffered a torn labrum.
The redshirt junior has made 19 career starts at Offensive Tackle, including 10 last season. The 6’5, 310 lb. Green’s replacement is currently Tyler Moore. Moore is a 6’6, 312 lb. tackle that transferred to Florida from Nebraska. Swapping Green for Moore isn’t a big downgrade for the Gators, but it obviously hurts their depth.
Green is now the third Gator to suffer a season-ending injury in fall camp. Wide receiver Andre Debose and highly touted freshman linebacker Matt Rolin both tore their ACLS.
However, it wasn’t all bad for the Gator Monday.
Muschamp told reporters starting running back Matt Jones would play against the Miami Hurricanes in week two. Jones, who rushed for 275 yards and three touchdowns during his freshman season in 2012, has been out since July with a viral infections.
Starting linebacker Antonio Morrison will also be back for the Miami game. Morrison, who was arrested twice this offseason, was originally suspended for two games, but Muschamp changed his mind and dropped one of the games.
The Gators will start their season against Toledo at 12:21 pm EST on the SEC Network Saturday.
