Oklahoma Sooners offensive lineman Jacob Reed has been charged with a couple of serious crimes. The senior has been charged with both assault and burglary. He allegedly broke into the apartment of his ex-girlfriend and hit her over the weekend.
Reed was charged in Cleveland County Court on Monday.
According to the Associated Press, “an affidavit filed in the case accuses Reed of breaking into the apartment early Sunday morning and striking her and a man who was also present” and “the affidavit says the woman was struck in the nose and chest and that one of Reed’s punches grazed the man’s left ear.”
Hitting women is clearly a serious offense and one that many college coaches simply won’t stand for. Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops has been around for some time, so he will obviously look at all the facts before taking further action on the 6’4, 309 lb. lineman out of Ardmore, Oklahoma.
Reed wasn’t likely to see any meaningful time this season.
According to school spokesman Pete Moris says Reed will be suspended indefinitely while the matter is pending.
