Seattle Seahawks’ Cliff Avril out indefinitely with aggravated hamstring injury
By David Miniel
Today is going to be a busy day for every team in the entire league as pre-season cuts need to be made. As the Seattle Seahawks make their set of cuts, right end Cliff Avril will be sidelined with an aggravated hamstring injury.
Avril has been banged up ever since the Seahawks signed him, also missing almost all of spring practices with a plantar fascia tear. His current status for Week 1 of the regular season is up in the air.
While Avril is out, this could be a chance for undrafted free agent Benson Mayowa to lock himself up a roster spot with this dangerous Seattle Seahawks defense. This kid could be the real deal and could provide more depth for an already deep Seattle defense.
This team wouldn’t struggle with Avril being sidelined, but I’m pretty sure they would rather have him healthy and ready to play come game day.
They placed rookie defensive tackle Jesse Williams on the injured reserve, ending his season. He has been battling nagging knee injuries throughout camp. He may need another surgery and could return next season to battle for a roster spot.
