The Washington Redskins and their fans have been hoping that Robert Griffin III would be ready for week one of the regular season. Griffin said he wouldn’t rush to play and risk further injuring himself, but he said recently that his knee feels great and he feels 100%.

“I would say I’m 100 percent, but you can’t put a number on it,” Griffin told 980’s Kevin Sheehan, via ESPN. “No one ever knows when they are 100 percent or what percentage they’re playing at. The biggest thing is, I’m not below 100 percent.”

Those worried about a drop of in RG3’s explosive speed don’t need to worry.

“If I had to run a 40 today at the combine in my underwear, I feel like I could run a 4.3-something,” said Griffin.

Griffin still has to pass an exam by Dr. James Andrew scheduled for Thursday when the Redskins play their final preseason game. Griffin says it feels better than it did before the original injury.

“I’m better than that right now,” Griffin said. “In my mind it’s been clicked for a long time, but for my body it clicked during the pregame in the last game when I went out there in full pads and I was running around and throwing and doing stuff.”

Griffin isn’t worried about rust either.

“I just think I’m ready to go, I’m ready to play,” Griffin said, “and, if anything, Coach and the organization holding me back has made me that much more hungry. I didn’t think that was possible, but it definitely worked.”

The knee brace he’ll wear doesn’t seem to be of concern either.

“When you train with a brace all offseason, it becomes part of you and doesn’t slow you down.”
