Assassin’s Creed movie poster revealed?

I’ll do my best to not give away spoilers for those who haven’t played the video games yet. I’ll give key details on the history of the series. There also happens to be a comic book series.

Assassin’s Creed has been my favorite video game series since the beginning. I remember watching my little brother playing the first when it was released, but I never really paid close attention too it. It was during a time where I was pretty much too busy to play video games, working early mornings so I would have very little time to sit up and watch him game it up.

But as time went on, I switched jobs and ended up having more time to play. So I got into the Assassin’s Creed series. If you aren’t familiar with it, it follows bartender “Desmond Miles” who is captured by a corporation called “Abstergo Industries”.

Abstergo Industries is apart of an organization called The Templar Order which is also known as Order of the Knights Templar. Their goal was ‘The New World Order’, so they used Desmond to help them try to find the Pieces of Eden.

What they need Desmond to do, is use a device called “The Animus” which allows him to relive memories of his ancestors in hopes of finding an artifacts called “The Pieces of Eden”. A weapon created that can pretty much cause a lot of damage, giving whoever holds it in their possession unlimited power.

The video game series is pretty much a look back into history. They use The Borgia, which includes Pop Alexander VI also known as Rodrigo Borgia, Leonardo da Vinci, Niccolo Machiavelli, Caterina Sforza, George Washington just to name a key few.

In the first game, Desmond discovered his ancestor Altair Ibn-La’Ahad of Masyaf who was a member of the Levatine Brotherhood of Assassins. Altair served as a mentor for his brotherhood and proved to be one of the most dangerous Assassin’s this video game franchise has had.

Another ancestor he meets in this journey is Ezio Auditore da Firenze who lived during the Renaissance period. Just like Altair, Ezio went on to become a mentor for a Brotherhood, his being the Italian Brotherhood of Assassins. Ezio was unaware of his Assassin heritage until the age of 17 where he witnessed his Father and two brothers executed in front of hundreds of people.

Ezio was a key Assassin/character during the storyline as he seen three video games (Assassin’s Creed 2, Brotherhood, Revelations) until he made his grand exit during Revelations.

In Assassin’s Creed Three, the story surrounded an Englishman Haytham Kenway (The Templar Order) and his Native American son (Assassin) Ratonhnhake:ton aka Connor. This time period took place during the 1750’s, which we run into George Washington and Charles Lee.

The line is eventually crossed when Desmond finds out that the ones who he thought he was helping for good, were actually the ones looking to find the Apple of Eden to control the world. At this point, the world’s fate rested on the shoulders of Desmond Miles, who a long the way has developed skills of an Assassin himself.

The Assassin Brotherhood were out to protect those who weren’t aware of the danger they were in. The series is full of “Free Running” or “Parkour” mixed in with lots of action and history lessons, beautiful locations from Syria, Italy, Istanbul, to the United States back in the 1750’s to present day.

When this movie was announced, I was pretty excited. I was curious to find out who would actually play Desmond Miles and how things would work out. The leading actor who is currently set to play Desmond is German actor Michael Fassbender.

Fassbender has appeared in movies such as Prometheus, Inglourious Basterds, X-Men: First Class and 300. As seen in the poster, he does somewhat resemble Desmond so it works for me.

News just released on the 25th that writer Scott Frank was brought on to re-write the movie. He’s written movies such as Out of Sight, Get Shorty, Minority Report and Flight of the Phoenix.

The rest of the cast has yet to be revealed. But there appears to be a release date set.

But this could be a long series just like the video games. Assassin’s Creed is entering their seventh game of the franchise.

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag will featured the Edward Kenway, Grandfather of Connor, Father of Haytham Kenway. It will featured three main cities, including Havana, Kingston and Nassau which reside under Spanish, British and Pirate influence. 

Captain Blackbeard was featured in a teaser trailer will be a real-life individual who you will run into. Other real life people you will run into in this game will be Benjamin Bornigold, Anne Bonny, Jack Rackham and Charles Vane.

The game is set to be released in October 29th for North America, October 31st for Australia, November 1st for Europe, November 28th for Japan and will be released for PS4 on November 15th for North America and November 29th for Europe.
