Charles Barkley wants dumb players, doesn't believe in "analytical crap"

Ich auch, Sir Charles. Ich auch.

The entertaining Charles Barkley stopped by the WIP Morning Show on Tuesday to talk about the current state of Philadelphia sports. He had some comments on the Eagles and the Phillies, sure, as well as some brilliant insight into the aging process (“I love old people, but they don’t get healthy, they die!”), but the highlight was undoubtedly this comment about how he’d prefer to have dumb players than smart ones:

Listen, Howard, you know I don’t believe in that analytical crap. If LeBron James couldn’t spell cat, I want him on my team. I always tell people, give me a dumb guy that can really play. Don’t give me no smart guy (CBS Philly).

I’m 100% behind Barkley on this one. It’s easy to overthink things on the court; sometimes it is just better to forget all analytical thought and just play.

However, if he’s dissing on the Disney show Smart Guy…well, then he has some serious explaining to do.
