The main event of UFC Fight Night 27 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis was a pivotal bout in the welterweight division between former interim champion Carlos Condit and the always dangerous Martin Kampmann.
In the previous meeting between the two, which was Condit’s UFC debut, Kampmann was able to edge “The Natural Born Killer” by split decision. Condit never forgot about that disappointing loss and he was looking to come back and make up for the past loss.
On Wednesday night, he did just that in a big way.
Condit was able to overwhelm Kampmann for the first three rounds of the fight. Kampmann was bloodied and battered from Condit’s attack and the end came in round four.
Condit hit a straight left that stumbled Kampmann before he went on to land the fight ending combination of punches and knees. After the straight left, Condit landed a beautiful shot to the body and two knees to Kampmann’s head from the Thai clinch.
Kampmann dropped to the mat and that was all she wrote.
With the win, Condit is once again one of the top contenders in the weight class and will be looking for a shot at the winner of Georges St-Pierre vs. Johny Hendricks.
