LSU quarterback Zach Mettenberger has just about the easiest fall term imaginable. The senior quarterback has a single class, an online English course, and that’s it. Of course, he also has to be chased around by SEC defenses on Saturdays, which is like Pants-Wetting Fear 101.
To be fair, Mettenberer’s light course load is because he’s a fifth-year senior, not because he’s a slacker. He says he’ll use his abundance of free time to study game film.
LSU head coach Les Miles complimented Mettenberger on being in such a position:
I think if you’re a quality student and put yourself in great position to have a semester where you’ve taken everything but three hours and you can enjoy that time off, I think that’s a wonderful thing. So he can spend some extra time on game plan, which will be very important (USA Today Sports).
The LSU Tigers will open the 2013 season against the TCU Horned Frogs on Saturday. It’ll mark the unveiling of the new offense installed by coordinator Cam Cameron. I just hope Mettenberger recites a Hamlet soliloquy after every touchdown.
