While almost all players are put on revocable waivers and claimed in Major League Baseball, it often results to nothing.
The vast majority of waiver claims are teams attempting to block a rival from acquiring the said player or the originating team simply putting out feelers.

Hoping to catch lightning in a bottle, Jon Heyman reports an unnamed team has claimed Morse off of waivers and considering Morse is a free agent at season end and will not be returning to Seattle, the Mariners have no reason to keep the powerful bat.
Michael Morse has been claimed on revocable waivers.
Seattle and the unnamed team will have a few days to work out a deal, but if no deal can be made, the Mariners could simply hand over Morse to alleviate themselves of his contract and the headache of playing time since the team is out of contention.
It’s very possible Morse could be in a new uniform in the next day or two.
Update: The Baltimore Orioles have made the request.
