When you think of storied NBA franchises, the Milwaukee Bucks really don’t fill that void.
Sure, there are NBA players who’ve ‘dreamed’ about playing for the Boston Celtics or Los Angeles Lakers, given their historic legacies. But dreaming of playing for the Milwaukee Bucks? That’s not something you often hear, but newest Milwaukee Buck Caron Butler says it’s true for him.
Speaking to the Milwaukee Journal Sentential, Butler said it’s been a dream of his to play for his hometown Bucks, a wish that was granted earlier this week when the Phoenix Suns shipped him to Wisconsin:
“I talked to coach Drew and John Hammond (Bucks general manager), and we talked about my role on and off the court,” Butler said.
“They will ask even more of me, and I embrace that challenge, being a leader and a mentor. And I’ll be in my own town doing it.
“I didn’t think it would ever happen, that this dream I had many years ago could become a reality. That’s funny.”
Judging by the roster the Bucks’ front office has put together, I’m not sure how much of the upcoming season is going to be a dream – rather, more of a nightmare.
