Barcelona is interested in Liverpool defender Daniel Agger, and he couldn’t be more flattered. Agger however has maintained that his future is in Liverpool’s hands.
According to ESPN FC, “Agger’s agent, Per Steffensen, said earlier this month that the Reds had rejected Barca’s offer for his client, and both Agger and Steffensen have denied quotes attributed to the player suggesting he would not be interested in joining the Spanish champions.”
“In general, you have to think of it as a positive thing,” Agger said, via Jyllands-Posten. “Regardless of what is being said or written, it’s a positive thing when someone thinks you do your job well. When a club like Barcelona thinks that, it’s even better, and it’s made me happy. I won’t deny that, but [the deal] is a long way from being a reality unless something happens.”
Liverpool has Agger under contract until 2016 and won’t force his way out.
“This is the situation,” he said. “It’s not something I can dictate or determine. I’m under contract with Liverpool for three years so, if the club want to keep me, they’ll keep me.”
“Liverpool gave me my life contract … I would not want the relationship I have with Liverpool to end even if, for example, I were to leave when my contract expires”
