Australians like their rugby like American’s like their football. So it isn’t all to surprising to see those tackling skills accidentally leak out on the soccer pitch from time to time, it’s hard to fight instinct.

And that looks like what happened in this Brisbane Premier League match between Brisbane Wolves FC and Peninsula Power FC. I’m not going to even pretend to understand what is going on in the BPL or who is on the field.

Here is how Bleacher Report describes it: “Wolves are off and running on the attack when Power FC defender Luke Gauci attempts to dispossess opponent Kado Aoci. Instead, Gauci nearly takes Aoci’s head off.”

While I’m  not familiar with Australian soccer, I do follow soccer closely and I can definitely say that it is not allowed. Considering what happens in South American soccer though, this is pretty tame.

The about section of the youtube video reads: “Soccer player knocked out by rugby league style tackle in Brisbane premier league.”
