New Orleans Saints Jonathan Vilma questionable for Week 1
By Bryan Rose
The New Orleans Saints came into the 2013 preseason with a ton of defensive question marks.
A multitude of injuries has turned those question marks into panic filled exclamation points as the Saints’ defense has more holes than a salt shaker.
Thankfully, the Saints do have some good news on the horizon as linebacker Jonathan Vilma is recovering well from his knee surgery, which he underwent two weeks ago.
It’s still not known however if Vilma will be ready for Week 1.
Per The Advocate:
"New Orleans Saints linebacker Jonathan Vilma is getting healthy, will be on the team’s 53-man roster when it is finalized Saturday and “may or may not be back” for the regular season opener against the Atlanta Falcons on Sept. 8, according to a league source.Vilma underwent arthroscopic knee surgery in mid-August, reportedly to relieve swelling and discomfort he was experiencing. He did not play in any of the Saints’ preseason games."
Vilma is expected to start alongside Curtis Lofton in the new 3-4 defensive scheme implemented by Rob Ryan.
