New York Knicks' J.R. Smith says Brooklyn Nets' Paul Pierce 'will pay' for saying Nets will run New York

In recent years, the New York Knicks and Brooklyn (formerly New Jersey) Nets have struggled to have talented teams at the same time.

Not anymore.

With both the Nets and Knicks fielding highly competitive teams, the upcoming season should be filled with lots of emotion and drama, drama that will only increase the rivalry assuming both sides keep talking.

Newly acquired Net Paul Pierce appeared on the radio a few weeks ago, suggesting that the Nets will take over New York from the Knicks, something that didn’t sit well with Knicks point guard Raymond Felton who suggested Pierce and his Nets would never take New York because it’s ‘not on their chest’.

Felton wasn’t the only Knick to catch feelings over Pierce’s comments as now J.R. Smith says the Nets forward ‘will pay’ for his comments.

Per Ian Begley of ESPN New York:

J.R. Smith on Paul Pierce saying the Nets will run NY: “Just know that his words have consequences & he’s going to have to pay for them.”

Looks like Smith has 99 problems and Pierce is one.
