The Villanova Wildcats traveled to Boston to take on the Boston College Eagles and they made an eye-catching play early on in the game to get on the scoreboard.

In a play that I haven’t seen executed since high school football, the Wildcats used a double-snap fake punt to take the ball to the house. The snap initially went to the up-back, Jamal Abdur-Rahma, who then went down to act like he was snapping the ball again to lead in to an option, but he kept the ball and ran around the opposite corner after the defense was completely fooled.

Not only was the Boston College defense tricked by the play, but the ESPN cameras were lost as well.

Here is a GIF of the fake punt and touchdown from SB Nation:

These are the kind of plays that work early in the season when emotions are running high and the adrenaline is pumping. Once players are settled down and remember to stick to their assignments, the chances of those plays succeeding take a serious dip.
