Cleveland Browns defensive end Barkevious Mingo has missed much of the past three weeks of preseason action after suffering a bruised lung August 15 against the Detroit Lions. That injury turned out to be far-more serious than that, as Mingo later ended up coughing up blood, and doctors could’t give him an accurate determination of the full-extent of the injury, or when the No. 5 pick of the 2013 NFL Draft would be cleared to play in games.
The latest report from Cleveland.com says that not only was Mingo limited in practice today, but the team probably won’t know his availability until later this week:
After practice, a club spokesman said Mingo was limited during the session, meaning he most likely sat out 11-on-11s. As it was, the team practiced in shorts and no pads.
Mingo, the No. 6 overall pick, wasn’t available in the locker room after practice because the Browns want to wait until later in the week to see what his status is for the Dolphins game.
He’s expected to undergo exams this week to help determine his availability.
