Dallas Cowboys RB Lance Dunbar out of walking boot
By Mike Dyce
Dallas Cowboys are hoping to use depth at running back to help protect DeMarco Murray who is oft-injured. A big part of those plans are running back Lance Dunbar who has been battling his own injuries. Dunbar suffered a left foot sprain earlier in the preseason.
He is still questionable for the season opener against the New York Giants. If he is unavailable that would leave the Cowboys with Joseph Randle and Phillip Tanner as Murray’s primary back-ups.
The Cowboys intended to use Dunbar as a third-down back. Dunbar has carried the ball 8 times for 45 yards this preseason but he is a consistent threat in the passing game as well. He caught 6 passes for 83 yards. One of those catches was a 43-yard catch against the Arizona Cardinals but he fumbled at the end of the play.
The Dallas Cowboys would prefer to have him but might be content to give the other two backs a shot.
