This may go down as one of the greatest quarterback debuts in the long tradition of Florida State Football. That’s how special redshirt freshman Jameis Winston played tonight in his first collegiate action, as he ran, passed, and flat-out embarrassed the Pittsburgh Panthers defense to the tune of 25/27 passing for 356 yards (13.2 avg) and 4 touchdowns, as the Seminoles rolled to a 41-13 victory in their ACC opener. He tossed in another 25 yards and a score on the ground.
After allowing an opening-drive TD to Pitt, the Seminoles reeled-off 41 of the next 47 points to bury Pitt in their ACC debut. The Noles will now get a Bye-Week before playing Nevada in Week 3, while Pitt will also get a bye before they look to rebound vs. New Mexico.
And mark this date on your calendar: Saturday, October 19th, @#8 Clemson.
If both teams can take care of business and remain undefeated until then, this could not only be a top-5 showdown, but effectively a midseason playoff game between two teams who look like legitimate contenders to make the BCS National Championship Game.
At least, for the first week they do.
