Ole Miss freshman wide receiver Laquon Treadwell was one of the many five-star recruits that was part of the great 2013 Rebels recruiting class that generated a lot of buzz before the start of the season.
While some top recruits can take a year or two to pan out, Treadwell was able to make his impact immediately felt as he burst on to the scene in the team’s season-opening win over the Vanderbilt Commodores. During the game, Tradwell hauled in nine catches for 82 yards. The nine catches included a two-point conversion that was pivotal in the team edging Vanderbilt.
For his efforts, Treadwell came away from the week with some great recognition as he was named the SEC Freshman of the Week.
Georgia running back Todd Gurley (Offense), Auburn cornerback Robensen Therezie (defense), Alabama kick returner Christion Jones (special teams), Arkansas end Trey Flowers (defensive lineman) and LSU tackle La’el Collins (offensive lineman) were the other SEC players who received top honors for their performances this week.
