After Texas A&M and suspended Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Johnny Manziel beat the Rice Owls a linebacker from his opponent defended Manziel. Now another linebacker isn’t defending Johnny Manziel.
“I’m not saying he’s a punk, but he acted like a punk in that game,” former Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher said on Fox Sports 1′s Fox Football Daily. “Like his coach said, it’s going to happen all season long. Guys are going to come after him. He’s the reigning Heisman winner, making plays out there running around and running his mouth a little bit. But he’s going to have to learn to deal with that.”
Johnny Manziel taunted his opponents with “air autographs” and the “show me the money” hand gesture of rubbing your thumbs against your fingers. Manziel was also flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct when he was jawing back and forth with Rice players who appeared eager to try and frustrate Manziel.
The linebacker that Manziel was taunting said Manziel said “what’s up Nick, nice hit.”
Former college coach Lou Holtz didn’t like Manziel’s action and had an idea of what he would have done.
“How would I have handled it? I would have grabbed him by the throat,” Holtz said. “That’s not the right thing to do.”
One thing is clear, Manziel is polarizing. You either love him or hate him.
