The Philadelphia Eagles released guard Danny Watkins as part of their final-53 man roster cuts. The Miami Dolphins signed Watkins to a one year deal after he went unclaimed through waivers.
Danny Watkins to the Dolphins a done-deal. A one-year contract, I’m told.

This signing comes as almost kind of a shock. Just days ago we heard reports that Danny Watkins’ playing days could be over because “his heart” isn’t in to football, now or ever. There was speculation that he didn’t like playing football even.
I don’t think Danny Watkins will play again. I don’t think his heart was ever in football. I don’t think he likes playing the game. — Reuben Frank (@RoobCSN) August 31, 2013
That means one of two things. That the Dolphins are really desperate for lineman if they’ll bring in someone who isn’t all that into football anymore. Or, that the report that he wasn’t into football anymore was wrong. There were reports that indicated the latter.
Former #Eagles G Danny Watkins cleared waivers. Birds are on the hook for all $1.1 million base salary. Word is he isn’t giving up football.
