The New York Jets have been a mess and they haven’t done anything to help themselves, especially with some of the questionable decisions that have been made by head coach Rex Ryan. Because of the poor moves the team has made and their poor performances on the field, there is plenty of negative attention being given to the team.

Ryan understands that the team’s struggles just a season ago will lead to criticism this year, so he is prepared to face the media and fans and hopefully turn their fortunes around.

“We had a terrible year, so that’s to be expected,” Ryan said, via Pro Football Talk. “When you win in this town, in New York and New Jersey area, shoot, everybody’s happy. If you don’t, hey, I understand the criticism. But the beauty of it is we have a brand new season right in front of us.”

If the Jets are going to succeed this year after their struggles from last season, they will first need to determine who will be leading the offense.

Will it be veteran Mark Sanchez when he is healthy or rookie Geno Smith? We don’t know just yet.

“When we want to announce it, we’ll announce it,” Ryan said. “Not you guys, not somebody else. When we’re comfortable making the decision we will.”

Until then, we will have to wait and see.
