UFC light heavyweight rankings: Glover Teixeira sits at No. 2 with key fight tonight

UFC Fight Night 28 takes place on Wednesday night and the event is headlined by a key bout in the light heavyweight division. When No. 2-ranked Glover Teixeira and Ryan Bader go at it, a potential title shot is at stake for the Brazilian.

Teixeira is currently riding a 14 fight winning streak and adding a main event feather in his cap will help his case at getting a crack at the winner of Jon Jones vs. Alexander Gustafsson after they face off this fall.

You can see the media already rallying for a Teixeira title shot by moving him up a spot without even fighting, so a win tomorrow night will put the “Teixeira title shot” campaign in full swing.

Here are the updated rankings:

Champion: Jon Jones

1. Alexander Gustafsson

2. Glover Teixeira (up one)

3. Lyoto Machida (down one)

4. Phil Davis

5. Rashad Evans

6. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira

7. Dan Henderson

8. Gegard Mousasi

9. Chael Sonnen

10. Mauricio “Shogun” Rua
