Cleveland Browns first round draft pick outside linebacker Barkevious Mingo is recovering from a bruised lung. Mingo was at the Browns’ practice on Wednesday but was limited. Mingo participated in non-contact drills with linebackers including backpedaling around cones and catching passes. Once the linebackers started hitting a blocking sled he sat out.
Browns CEO Joe Banner told the Beacon Journal that Mingo is still undergoing further medical testing this week to determine his availability for this Sunday’s game.
“I think that we’re pleased in how he’s doing and the fact that he’s back out on the field, limited, but back out on the field,” Banner said, via the Akron Beacon-Journal. “We’ll probably know in the next two to three days whether he’ll be able to play this week. We’re still hopeful, but we won’t know for sure until later in the week.”
Paul Kruger and Jabaal Sheard are doing extra conditioning to prepare for Mingo’s absence.
“On the side, you’ll see me and Krug doing a little extra running,” Sheard said. “You really have to get more running. You’ve got to be in shape.”
