There has been plenty of speculation about a potential light heavyweight match up between Chael Sonnen and former champion Rashad Evans, but now we need to speculate any longer. During the UFC Fight Night 28 pre-fight show on FOX Sports 1, Chael Sonnen announced that he would be facing off against Evans at UFC 167 in Las Vegas on November 16.
Sonnen is still fresh off of a dominating performance of another former champ, Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, while Evans is looking to follow up his win over Dan Henderson with a second-straight victory.
It should be an interesting fight between two of the top fighters in the UFC’s 205 pound weight class.
The fight is expected to be the co-main event.
The latest announcement bolsters an already intriguing and impressive fight card for the November pay-per view event.
With the addition of Sonnen vs. Evans to the UFC 167 fight card, here is the current line up:
- Georges St-Pierre vs. Johny Hendricks - for welterweight title
- Chael Sonnen vs. Rashad Evans
- Robbie Lawler vs. Rory MacDonald
- Josh Koscheck vs. Tyron Woodley
