The 2013-14 NFL season kicks off on Thursday night with a rematch of last season’s AFC divisional round match up between the Denver Broncos and defending Super Bowl champion Baltimore Ravens at Sports Authority Field at Mile High.

Unfortunately for the Broncos defense, they will be without perennial All-Pro defensive back and future Hall of Famer Champ Bailey.

Bailey was expected to be a gametime decision, but he has officially been ruled out for the team’s first game of the season, according to Mike Klis of the Denver Post.

The veteran suffered a foot sprain three weeks ago and he will need at least until Week 2 of the regular season for his return.

With Bailey out of the line up, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and Tony Carter will be the starting cornerbacks. Look for Chris Harris to step up in nickle situations as the slot corner.

This could set up perfectly for the Ravens and their Joe Flacco to Torrey Smith connection.

Football season is almost here and this one is going to be a lot of fun.
