Eli Manning to Johnny Manziel: Be yourself… but be smart

Aug 31, 2013; College Station, TX, USA; Texas A

Quarterback Eli Manning and the New York Giants are heading to the Lone Star state this weekend to take on Tony Romo and the Dallas Cowboys in Jerry world. Eli Manning boasts a 4-0 record at Jerry World, aka Cowboys Stadium, aka AT&T Stadium. Another quarterback that is undefeated at AT&T Stadium?

Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel.

Manziel led the A&M Aggies to a Cotton Bowl victory in Jerry World over the Oklahoma Sooners.

His behavior in the offseason earned him a lot of detractors, his actions during the season opener against Rice gave those detractors more ammunition. He has gained some fans though, Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco said that Manziel is quickly becoming his favorite player.

So how does Eli Manning feel about Manziel? He had some advice for him.

“You’ve got to be yourself … but you’ve got to be smart and make sure anything you’re doing is not hurting your team.”

Manziel drew a unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for jawing with a Rice player and was subsequently benched by his coach.
