The Los Angeles Lakers reported are not interested in new free agent Michael Beasley, according to Ramona Shelburne of ESPNLA.com.

Beasley was released by the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday, September 3rd after he was arrested on ‘suspicion of marijuana possession.’ It was Beasley’s first season in Phoenix after he’d signed a three-year deal with the team last season.

No one question’s Beasley’s raw talent—for his career, he’s averaged 14.1 points and 5.2 rebounds on 44.7 percent shooting—but his off-the-court behavior has seen him bounce around the league three times in his five-year tenure. He was originally drafted by the Miami Heat with the 2nd overall pick in the 2008 NBA Draft.

The Lakers could certainly use a scorer of Beasley’s make, but seem unlikely to take the risk with Beasley’s red flags.

Not surprised. Never thought they would have an interest in a guy with his track record. There’s no indication that he’s had an epiphany and is going to get his act together. Until that happens he’s not worth the headaches he will bring with him.
