The wonder of the Internet is that it gives everyone a voice. Sometimes those voices can be grating and make you want to beat your head against a wall – I’m looking at you, Rebecca Black – but other times they can give us something amazing. Today we bring you the latter, thanks to the creativity of YouTube user 14ASTUDIO.
This gift to the World Wide Web has condensed the entire story of the Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope into one sped-up minute of animation. Every major moment is captured in these hilarious 60 seconds: the booming score of the opening credits, the trash compactor monster, Obi-Wan versus Darth Vader, and the one-in-a-million shot to destroy the Death Star, and it’s all made better because of the tiny animated people with tiny voices and old-school video game style sound effects.
Star Wars isn’t the only movie 14ASTUDIO gives what he or she calls the “Speedrun” treatment. There are seven total so far, including animated re-tellings of classics like Back to the Future, The Matrix, and Blade Runner. You can watch them all on 14ASTUDIO’s YouTube channel, but check out the Star Wars video below – it’s sure to give you a much-needed midday chuckle.
