Dedication to a team is almost rare these days. Either a team gives up on you and trades you away, or a player loses interest in a team and leaves for another.

It’s no secret that business is involved in the world of sports. I’ve said it time after time, decisions are made for the best for the future of a franchise. Things like this happen, we seen that type of thing with both Ronde Barber with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Brian Urlacher with the Chicago Bears.

Arroyo started his career off with the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2000 but moved onto the Boston Red Sox where he won a World Series in 2004. I didn’t really notice this guy until he ended up with Boston even though he was in the same division as my Chicago Cubs.

But now that he’s 36 years old, he wants to retire with the team he was traded to back in 2006. He signed a three year, $35 million dollar contract to return to the Cincinnati Reds back in 2011.

Arroyo is asking for at least a two year deal so he can retire with the Cincinnati Reds.

"“If it wasn’t for the dollar bill, I know I would be in this uniform until the day I retire, because I know they enjoy what I do around here, but at the end of the day, dollars and cents always wight a little heavier than anything else in life, usually. If my price tag is a little too much or they feel like they don’t want to give me more than a one-year deal here, then it’s going to be very difficult, because it’s probably going to be the last time I have an opportunity to go out and sign a multiyear deal with a ballclub.” Bronson Arroyo via Philly.com."

He’s currently in the final year of the three year contract. Arroyo holds a 3.62 ERA this season over 179 innings pitched.
