Detroit Lions rookie Ziggy Ansah probable for season opener

After suffering a concussion on Aug. 24, the status of Detroit Lions defensive lineman Ziggy Ansah to play in the season opener against Minnesota on Sunday was up in the air.

According to Lions beat reporter Tim Twentyman, Ansah is listed as probable and was a full participant in practice Friday.

Ansah returned to practice Thursday in a limited role after missing several practices during preseason.

“I missed the game,” Ansah told Twentyman. “I missed what I love to do.”

By drafting Ansah with the No. 5 pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, the Lions hope the BYU defensive lineman can replace the void left behind from former star Cliff Avril. Avril signed as a free agent with the Seattle Seahawks during the offseason.
