Claude Giroux is almost ready to hit the ice hard. He’s getting is splint off from his finger on Monday. So, you know we gotta talk about how he injured his finger. I’m sure it was hockey related since he’s a professional hockey player.
The injury occurred during a golf outing near Giroux’s home in Ottawa, when a club he was swinging broke in half, with part of the club cutting into Giroux’s finger.
Oh…ew. He had surgery to fix it up. But, here’s what he had to say about the experience:
“I swung and the club broke in the grip,” he said. “The club was in the grass and stuck there and my hand was still going. I was following through, and that’s when the shaft went into my hand.”
Ouch. Philadelphia fans know all about an athlete getting injured while doing something outside of the sport they play. Isn’t that right, Sixers fans?
Anyway, he’s ahead of schedule so that’s a good sign for Flyers fans who saw their team miss the playoffs for just the second time since 1994.
