Fresno State quarterback Derek Carr named Manning Award Player of the Week

According to a release, Fresno State senior quarterback Derek Carr was named the Manning Award Player of The Week on Friday for his Week 1 performance against Rutgers.

Carr was 52 of 73 for 456 yards, five touchdowns and one interception in the Bulldogs 52-51 overtime win against the Scarlett Knights. He was also named the Mountain West Conference Offensive Player of the Week.

Fresno State hosts the Cal Poly Mustangs on ESPN3 at 7 p.m. Saturday at Bulldog Stadium.

Texas A&M Johnny Manziel won the Manning Award as the best quarterback in college football in 2012.
