Cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha and running back LaMichael James have been listed as questionable by the San Francisco 49ers  for Sunday’s game against the Green Bay Packers.

Asomugha is expected to play most of the game as the team’s number three corner, while James is expected to miss three or more weeks with a sprained medial collateral ligament in his left knee.

Asomugha has been slowed by a left collarbone injury and hs been limited in practice this week running up to the season opener.  49ers defensive corrdinator said the team is confident he will be able to play, according to a report from csnbayarea.com’s Matt Maiocco.

James and Asomugha were the only two names listed on the 49ers injury report.  San Francisco will also be missing wide receivers Michael Crabtree and Mario Manningham to begin the season, as has been widely reported.

In a report earlier this week from csnbayarea.com, Asomugha got turned down by 49ers running back Anthony Dixon for his number 24 jersey: “We tried to go $24K for 24, but I told him, ‘No, I’m going to keep my 24,’” said Dixon.

It’s been a rough week for the corner, but Asoumgha will have his debut with the 49ers this Sunday, sore collarbone and all, wearing number 28.
