Navy to honor Niumatalolo’s mother with heart decal (Photo)

Navy coach Ken Niumatalolo’s mother died Thursday, and the Midshipmen will honor her by wearing a special decal, ESPN’s Brett McMurphy tweeted Friday.Photo courtesy of ESPN's Brett McMurphy

Against Indiana, Each player will wear a heart-shaped decal on their shoulder pads with Lamala Niumatalolo’s initials on.

Niumatalolo, the former Hawaii quarterback, has coached at Navy since 2007 and has a record of 40-26. The Midshipmen went 8-5 in 2012 and lost in the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl against Arizona State 62-28. The team finished unranked.

Navy (0-0) visits Indiana (1-0) at 6 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Stadium. The game will be televised on the Big Ten Network and BTN2Go.
