Texas Longhorns upset brewing in Salt Lake City

The Texas Longhorns are in some trouble. Brigham Young currently leads the Longhorns 27-14 at the half.

After outscoring Texas 10-7 in the first quarter BYU opened up the lead even more outscoring them 17-7 in the second. Texas has struggled the last few years and many people thought that Mack Brown had managed to return the Longhorns to dominance after their finish last year.

Texas is currently ranked 15th in ESPN’s poll while BYU is unranked. It appears that BYU has really taken advantage of a good 3rd down conversion rate in the first half by converting 7 of 14 opportunities. Oh yeah, out rushing the Longhorns 349 yards to 59 might be helping also. Don’t worry, that is not a typo, I double checked those numbers.

Texas has been unable to even slow down the BYU running game, particularly quarterback Taysom Hill who has rushed for 166 yards and 2 touchdowns. while throwing for 62.

I am sure that Mack Brown is going to have some words with his defensive line at halftime and we will see if they are able to right the ship in the second half.
