Although Roddy White was deemed unlikely to play, just as short as fifteen minutes ago, ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting White will take the field this afternoon as the Atlanta Falcons take on the New Orleans Saints.

Per Schefter:

"Falcons say WR Roddy White will start today."

Though he is starting, how effective he’ll be remains to be seen.

White was hampered throughout the preseason and training camp with an ankle sprain, though, the team continually suggested it was nothing more than a ‘minor’ injury.

That doesn’t appear to be the case as White is still struggling to get healthy and now reports suggest it’s more of a high ankle variety, not what was originally diagnosed. Fox’s Jay Glazer even said that White hasn’t been able to cut on the ankle, which he injured in the second preseason game.

High or low ankle sprain, the Falcons’ number one wide receiver (sorry Julio Jones) will attempt to play through it as he gets the start this afternoon.
