Kerley and Cumberland taken to the locker room for the New York Jets with head injuries

Dashon Goldson is giving a clinic on the personal foul penalty “hit on a defenseless receiver”.

In the second quarter of the Jets vs. Bucs game, which the Jets are trailing the Bucs 14-12, Goldson is laying out the wood. Geno Smith is not helping on each of these two plays, leading his receiver right into Goldson, but his hits have been brutal.

First, it was a hit on Jets’ tight end Jeff Cumberland, approximately midway through the quarter. He was immediately taken to the locker room, presumably for testing, after the penalty was called. A few minutes later, the victim was Jeremy Kerley, who was also taken out of the game. This time the penalty was key on a drive that led to the Jets’ TD that brought the score to 14-12 as the half ended.

We haven’t heard anything on whether either player has a concussion or not, but neither looked good as they went to the locker room. Kerley seemed to be bleeding from the ear.
