Alistair Overeem says he'd quit MMA with loss to Frank Mir

A UFC heavyweight battle between Alistair Overeem and former champion Frank Mir is set for UFC 167 and it looks like their could be a lot more to this bout than initially meets the eye.

During a recent interview on the MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, Overeem opened up about the upcoming match up.

Overeem wasn’t initially planning to return to the octagon this soon, but he is confident that he will get past Mir. In fact, he is confident enough that he is willing to say he would quit mixed martial arts if Mir is able to earn the win.

“If I lose to Frank Mir, I have to find something else to do,” Overeem said.

“I just lost my last fight and was just thinking about what I was going to do next and have a nice holiday. The fight is coming way more sooner than I expected…I was aiming for maybe December, January. But I’m a fighter and I love to be active.”
