Brandon Meriweather out for Washington Redskins

After Washington Redskins starting safety Brandon Meriweather participated in pre-game warms ups today, it was though he may be able to go tonight after suffering a groin injury during the preseason. But as it turns out, he will be inactive tonight against the Philadelphia Eagles. Meriweather suffered the groin injury in practice last week and he’ll now have missed 16 of a possible 17 games with Redskins since he joined the team in 2012.

As for the rest of tonight’s inactives:

Redskins Inactives

QB Rex Grossman
S Jose Gumbs
G Josh LeRibeus
S Brandon Meriweather
NT Chris Neild
RB Evan Royster
QB Pat White

Eagles Inactives

QB Matt Barkley
CB Shaun Prater
T Matt Tobin
T Dennis Kelly
DE Vinny Curry
TE Emil Igwenagu

Meriweather spent the offseason working his way back from ACL surgery last fall, and played the first two quarters of the preseason finale against Tampa Bay. Meriweather’s surgically repaired right knee didn’t suffer any setbacks after the game, but he injured his groin in Monday’s practice.
