The Dallas Cowboys were without their franchise player Anthony Spencer last night. George Selvie played well in place of him, and Selvie might get another opportunity to play for him next week. Spencer didn’t even dress up for the game against the New York Giants.

“It felt good this morning so I’m just going to keep working it, seeing where I’m at on Monday and Wednesday,” Spencer said after the game. “Just try to work myself back into practice.”

Spencer avoided speculating and pinpointing a date on when he would return to practice. Spencer is still recovering from arthroscopic surgery on his left knee and suffered a set back last weekend with some swelling in his knee. He jogged Saturday and will jog again on Monday.

“Just see how it is on Tuesday and go from there,” he said.

“I want to see him have his days the way he had these last two,” Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones said. “If he’ll come out and basically respond the way he has the last two, then he’ll play.”

The Cowboys would love to have him on the field and given how well Selvie played in his place, Spencer could play incredibly well in their new Tampa-2 defense.
