Rafael Nadal has done it again. Nadal has won his second career U.S. Open defeating Novak Djokovic 3 sets to 1 on Monday night. This victory gives Nadal his 13th grand slam title, only one behind the legendary Pete Sampras.
After dropping the second set and falling back into a tie with Djokovic, Nadal found an extra gear and was able to seize the momentum to earn the title.
The final score line was 6-2, 3-6, 6-4, 6-1. It was a stunning performance for Nadal whom earlier this year, many wondered if he would ever be healthy enough to challenge for a grand slam title, other than the French Open, again.
Nadal certainly appeared healthy and there is no doubt that his illustrious career is not yet done. Many passive fans may not realize what an incredible age of tennis that we are currently experiencing. To have four of some of the best tennis players in history all playing at the same time is certainly a treat. Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, and Andy Murray all have spoiled us to some degree by laying witness to spectacular tennis.
Either way, I am sure that the future is bright for the sport of men’s tennis.
