Jason Giambi wants to return to the Cleveland Indians next season, as a player

According to the Cleveland Plain Dealer, veteran first baseman/designated hitter Jason Giambi wants to return to the Cleveland Indians next season as a player.

“I would love to play next year. Hopefully it will be here. I love it here. I love the direction the team is going and the things we’ve got going here.” Jason Giambi said in an interview.

Giambi collected his 2,000th career hit on Sunday with his first Major League hit being collected back in 1995. A man who will turn 43 years old next season has a batting line of just .186/.278/.372 with eight home runs and 29 RBI’s in 198 plate appearances.

Yeah Giambi wants to come back to the Cleveland Indians, but the question is would they want to bring him back?

Would anybody want a 43 year old left handed batter whose consistent hitting days are behind him? I highly doubt it, but you never know with this league. Cleveland could possibly re-sign him, but not to a Major League contract.

I doubt anybody will sign him to a Major League contract unless they are confident he can boost his numbers from this season.
