When the Golden State Warriors signed swingman Andre Iguodala this offseason (a move few saw coming), that lead some to suggest that young Harrison Barnes wouldn’t be overly thrilled with his new role – a bench player.
But that’s not something Barnes minds as he told Inside Bay Area he’s fine being a bench player:
“Winning the game matters more to me,” Barnes said.
Barnes, after his workout at the team facility on Tuesday, didn’t mince his words and gave no breath to controversy. He doesn’t care. Whatever Mark Jackson decides, he’s game.
“I can imagine much worse problems,” Barnes said. “I feel confident about this team and where we can go. Regardless if I’m starting or coming off the bench, I think we have a chance to make a serious playoff push.”
He’s certainly saying all the right things.
Of course, if the Warriors struggle, things could get a bit more irritable but for now, it seems as if everybody is buying into the ‘team’ mentality, starting with former Tar Heel.
