With the 2012 college basketball season vastly approaching, John Calipari is turning up the heat of the class of 2014 recruiting class in order to get a few more commitments before the season hits and he’s focused more on getting this year’s team back to the Final Four after getting the Cats there in two of his first fours years in Lexington.

One player he’s amping up the recruitment of is five-star center Myles Turner of Euless, Texas. Calipari visited the 7-footer in his Dallas-area home Wednesday night and formally extended the UK offer.

This, according to his father said today after Calipari visited the Turners at their home on Wednesday:

“(The visit) was great,” David Turner said. “It was great to meet Coach Cal and (assistant) coach (Kenny) Payne. Man, it was actually very impressive.”

“Well, Coach Cal, he produces NBA talent. The fact that he sees my son in that same light is very impressive.”

Calipari is hoping Turner visits him next, preferably on October 18 for Big Blue Madness
