There is no doubt that Auburn alum Charles Barkley prefers to be saying “War Eagle,” but with Alabama’s big game on Saturday against Texas A&M, the NBA Hall of Famer is getting dangerously close to rooting for the Crimson Tide because of Johnny Manziel’s immature antics.
Barkley, who is never shy about speaking out, went on radio in Chicago yesterday and began to rip Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel before saying that he is in Alabama’s corner for this weekend’s big game.
“Johnny Manziel, he’s doing something I never thought was possible,” Barkley said, via al.com. “He’s going to make me root for Alabama this weekend.
“I never thought I would say those words. I am so close to saying ‘Roll Tide.’ Johnny Manziel is annoying me so much. I’m really close to saying ‘Roll Tide.’”
Not only is Manziel getting dangerously close to rooting for Manziel, but he had some harsh words that compare him to another troubled star in the entertainment industry.
“They’re not going to be happy,” Barkley said. “But let me tell you something. Johnny Manziel, oh my God, the only thing saving Manziel is Miley Cyrus.
“I just think that Johnny Manziel has done a lot of stupid stuff in the last three or four months.”
Barkley is right.
Manziel has gone on a tear and been involved in multiple off-field distractions, which ultimately has delivered a blow to his popularity. We wouldn’t go as far as Chuck by calling Manziel stupid, but it’s easy to see why more and more people are turning against him, thanks to his continued immaturity and inability to “get it.”
