Things really aren’t going well for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

First, Buccaneers linebacker Lavonte David committed a late hit on New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith, setting up a game-winning field goal for the Jets. Then, the Buccaneers held a players-only meeting to discuss the removal of the captain’s “C” from quarterback Josh Freeman’s jersey, among other things. Then, on Thursday, head coach Greg Schiano said Freeman missed a team picture and has overslept for meetings.

After Schiano made those comments, Freeman defended himself.

“I missed a deal for some family stuff,” Freeman said, via Pro Football Talk, “but other than that, it’s really isolated incidents.”

He did, however, acknowledge, he should have been there for the picture.

“The position of quarterback is a position of leadership,” Freeman said. “And obviously missing the team photo’s a big deal. It’s something I feel badly about, and it’s honestly upsetting.  You’ve got to put it behind you and continue to play.”

Freeman and the Buccaneers will host the New Orleans Saints Sunday at 4:05 pm EST.

If Bucs fans want some good news, the game is not blacked out on local television.
