So, Caron Butler is home. He cried at his press conference. I would think his heart is here and he would play any role. We also saw how he would be getting a lot of minutes. It would seem that the Bucks will be turning to him to get points. Fox Sports, help us out:

"On the court, the Bucks are expecting Butler to be one of the team’s top scorers. Butler will team with O.J. Mayo, Brandon Knight and Ersan Ilyasova to do the bulk of the scoring. Don’t be surprised to see Butler’s scoring average jump back up near his career scoring average of 15.5 points per game. His stay in Milwaukee may be for just one season, but Butler will be an important part of the Bucks next season."

GM John Hammond is hoping for leadership from Butler too. This team is a young team that could use Butler’s experience. And, looking at that 15.5 points would perhaps suggest that the Bucks are looking for balanced scoring. We know Mayo can score. Knight appears to be a scorer and Ilyasova will score too. So yeah, I could see Butler bringing it.

Would Butler stick around this young team? His contract expires at the end of the season and, while he’s obviously connected to the area, would the team want him? Would Butler be willing to take a back seat to the development of the younger players? Butler’s just about ready to decline out of his prime. He would be good for a team that’s looking for some scoring punch in a championship run.

Until then, I wonder if we can expect to see Butler’s best season in a while.
