The Miami Dolphins spent a lot of money to bring wide receiver Mike Wallace to South Beach. In his season debut against the Cleveland Browns he failed to live up to expectations. Wallace caught just one pass for 15 yards.
“You don’t want to just force me the ball, because that’s not good,” Wallace said, via the Miami Herald. “I need to get the ball. Everybody knows I need to get the ball.”
Wallace really has no where to complain he was targeted 5 times. That clearly wasn’t the highest total on the team but he wasn’t entirely neglected either. Quarterback Ryan Tannehill agreed though that they can’t force him the ball.
“I’m going to play the quarterback position the way the coaches install the plays,” Tannehill said, via the Miami Herald. “I’m going to go through the reads just like they install it. We’re going to try and get him the ball when he’s in the play, but we’re not going to force him the ball.”
Wallace even talked to offensive coordinator Mike Sherman and said ““I am pretty sure I will have more than my share of opportunities to make plays.”
The Dolphins will want him to have a bigger role considering all the money they’re paying him.
